Eptus is primarily used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure, particularly after a heart attack. It helps prevent worsening heart conditions by blocking the effects of aldosterone, a hormone that can contribute to heart damage.
Take Eptus exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily with or without food. Dosage may vary depending on your condition and kidney function.
Before using Eptus, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, or high blood potassium levels. Regular blood tests may be required to monitor your potassium and kidney function.
Eptus is not recommended for individuals with severe kidney impairment, high potassium levels, or those taking potassium supplements. It should also be avoided in people who are allergic to eplerenone.
Common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, or increased potassium levels. In rare cases, it can cause serious imbalances in blood electrolytes.
Avoid using Eptus with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (like ketoconazole) or potassium-sparing diuretics, as these can increase the risk of high potassium. Always inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it's almost time for the next one—do not double the dose.
Symptoms of overdose may include low blood pressure, dizziness, or dangerously high potassium levels. Seek emergency medical attention immediately in case of overdose.
Store Eptus at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep the medication out of reach of children.
